THE DYNAMIC BODY IN SPACE: PERFORMANCE, RESEARCH AND DANCE SCHOLARSHIP IN THE 21ST CENTURY
October 24-26 2008.

We are pleased to announce that we are able to extend the deadline to 14th April 2008.

Abstracts of no more than 300 words sent to the conference coordinator, Dr Lesley-Anne Sayers, email: lsayers@laban.org or to confinfo@laban.org will be accepted up until midnight of the 14th April.

Many of the seminal ideas relating to the practice, research and performance of the dynamic body in space derive from the work of Rudolf Laban. His work and ideas have been applied worldwide across a diverse range of fields from dance to behavioural science. In addition, many practitioners have used his ideas as a springboard for the development of their work.

This conference poses the question:
How relevant are Rudolf Laban’s ideas today and how are they being developed in the performance arts and by researchers, teachers, community leaders, documenters, psychologists, therapists and others?

It aims to provide an opportunity for cross-disciplinary dialogue, exploring the relevance, development and future application of Rudolf Laban’s ideas.
