SUMMER SCHOOL 2008

Summer School is a rare opportunity to be immersed in dance and movement for an intense and vibrant two weeks in Laban’s state of the art building. Our course will offer a valuable training experience for newcomers to dance, those who wish to refresh their skills, as well as those considering future professional dance training. Members of Laban faculty and others from wider afield in the dance profession are selected to form an exceptional team of teachers.
Laban Summer School aspires to offer participants a rich and varied contemporary dance experience and a flavour of our school, theatre and building. The course is suitable for young people aged 16-18 years old, and adults of all ages. It’s a great way to meet other dancers and make new friends from all over the world. The mix of people from different cultures, dance training backgrounds and different ages makes for a very exciting and unique experience.
We welcome people of all backgrounds; courses are offered at different ability levels and styles, from beginner to professional standard, to enable you to choose the classes that will best meet your needs. Classes develop and progress across the fortnight enabling participants to develop new skills with the guidance of highly experienced teachers.
This year’s Summer School programme allows participants to choose from a range of technique classes including; Contemporary Dance, Classical Ballet and Jazz Dance. In addition to this, there are complementary classes in Choreography, Pilates, Yoga, Physical Theatre, Hip Hop, Capoeira and Contact Improvisation.
Self catering accommodation at a nearby Hall of Residence can be arranged through Laban which offers a great opportunity to meet and socialise with others on the course. We regret that our accommodation is full now fully booked.
Summer School students are encouraged to take advantage of our exciting schedule of additional events, and to make use of our library and dance health facilities (additional costs may apply).
