JUST LIKE THAT
CHOREOGRAPHY Allison Brown
COSTUME DESIGN Suzie Holmes
LIGHT DESIGN Ross Cameron
MUSIC Xavier Briche, Carsten Nicolai, Ivan Pavlov
Special thanks to Deborah Jones, Jan Shulz, David Waring
With cinematic echoes and inspiration from popular culture, both Eastern and Western, this strong emotive piece explores a particular physicality suggesting inner and outer forces at play. Unease and a demanding, steely readiness to respond inform the infinite arc of action in this athletic work.
TRANSITIONS 2
CHOREOGRAPHY Miguel Pereira
COSTUME DESIGN Susan Kulkarni
LIGHT DESIGN Ross Cameron
Spelling meets the domestic meets Broadway! This entertaining and provocative new work for the company follows Pereira’s piece Transitions, made in 2004, and continues to explore identity and the ‘standardised body’ using duplication in a continually moving landscape. With its theatrical take on movement and ironic use of daily imagery, all supported by witty costuming, it also questions but doesn’t necessarily give answers.
THE UNPLUGGED
CHOREOGRAPHY Lost Dog
COSTUME DESIGN Jane Brown
LIGHT DESIGN Anthony Bowne
Lost Dog’s piece explores the place of human contact in an overcrowded city. It presents the city as a constant flow of human traffic which presses bodies into and past each other but prevents us from meeting. The work explores the human desire for connection through a series of accidental collisions, some brutal, some tender. Set to an eclectic mix of music from classical to contemporary, this piece follows an individual’s journey through an almost normal day in the city.
