Joss ARNOTT
Joss began dancing at the age of 16 when he was introduced to A Level Dance. He was awarded a BTEC National Diploma in Dance from Cornwall College St. Austell and became a member of Cornwall Youth Dance Company, touring works by Rambert Dance Company, Motionhouse and Jasmin Vardimon Company.

Joss also trained intensively with Jason Thomas and The Bev-Lyn School of Dancing, gaining Distinction grades in R.A.D and I.S.T.D examinations. Joss graduated from Laban with a First Class Honours Degree in Dance Theatre in 2009. In his first year he professionally worked with Lois Taylor of Attik Dance and later in his studies worked with Tom Dale and Matthias Sperling, he also performed as a soloist in a reconstruction of Martha Graham's Diversion of Angels. Training at London Studio Centre and enhancing his skills as a commercial dancer enabled him to support music artists including P!nk (I'm Not Dead Tour) Wembley Arena.

Joss was introduced to contemporary dance through watching Transitions in 2003; he now feels privileged to have become a member of the company. Joss wants to develop his technique and artistic vision through the programme and enhance his versatility as a dancer. Joss wants to pursue a career as a performer, and ultimately would like his own dance company.

Joss wishes to thank his family for their ongoing support.


Hayley CONNOLLY
Hayley started learning ballet and modern dance at the Sue Nieto Theatre School in North London at the age of four. Following her studies at Copthall School in London, Hayley became a member of Shift Dance Company for one year in 2005, while the company was resident at The Place. In 2009 Hayley graduated from Laban with a First Class BA Honours Degree in Dance Theatre.

Hayley has been involved in many projects throughout her dance training, and recently performed in Indexical choreographed by Kerry Nicholls of Wayne McGregor/Random Dance as part of a Random Dance Evening. She has also taken part in workshops with Richard Alston, Nederlands Dans Theater and Hofesh Shechter.

Hayley enjoys running and aims to take part in the London Marathon by 2012. She wishes to engage in the dance world as much as possible and sees Transitions as the perfect way to further her skills as a creative performer, develop her technical abilities and work alongside inspiring people and choreographers.


Whitney COVER
Whitney began dance training in her home state of Washington (USA) at Ballet Arts Academy. Throughout her teens, she studied with various summer ballet intensives and went on to attend the University of California, Irvine where she was introduced to contemporary dance and earned her BA in Dance.

After graduating in 2006, Whitney was granted a place on the scholarship programme at Lou Conte Dance Studio (home of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago) and also worked with Chicago dance companies Khecari Dance Theater, Winifred Haun & Dancers, and Thodos Dance Chicago.

As well as practising contemporary dance, Whitney taught Pilates in Los Angeles and Chicago before moving to London to join Transitions. Whitney hopes to continue exploring the contemporary dance community in the UK and Europe and wishes to join companies with whom she can grow as a movement artist and performer.


Oona DOHERTY
Oona studied at St Louise’s Specialist College in Belfast. She then went on to study at the London Contemporary Dance School (The Place) for two years, starting a BA degree in Dance which she completed at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. Whilst at The Place, Oona became a member of the Pony Dance Theatre Company for four years before joining Transitions in 2009.

Oona enjoys travelling and cinema and aims to spend the rest of her professional life as a dancer.






Rebecca DUSCHL
Originally from Houston, Texas, Rebecca started her dance training at the age of five. When she was 14, Rebecca moved to London to study at the Brit School for Performing Arts and Technology. Between the ages of 16 and 18, she studied at The Place and Danceworks before moving back to the States and spending four years at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey where she received her BFA in Dance. Rebecca has spent the past two years training at Mark Morris Dance Center, Dance New Amsterdam & Steps on Broadway and dancing professionally in New York.

Rebecca has performed at many festivals throughout New York including the DUMBO Dance Festival (2008), Wave Rising Festival (2008) & BAAD! Ass Women Festival (2008 & 2009), in venues such as Merce Cunningham Studios, Ailey Citigroup Theater, Riverside Theater, The Tank at Collective Unconscious & Green Space and has worked with Jessica Danser/dansfolk, æmp:dance / amiti perry + company & odonata dance group to name a few.

Rebecca hopes to one day perform with Mark Morris Dance Group and New Adventures, and to work as a dance artist for as long as possible before ‘retiring’ in dance administration or teaching.


Andrew McAULAY
Born in Stoke on Trent, Andrew joined Transitions at the age of 23 after completing his training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Laban. Andrew’s future ambitions include working as an independent choreographic artist as well as joining forces with the people who have inspired him throughout his training to produce exciting new work.










Jamie MORGANS
Jamie started dancing at the age of 17 when he did a 2-year BTEC in Performing Arts at Gorseinon College in Swansea, specialising in dance. He also took an AS Level in Dance during his second year. In 2006, Jamie started his 3 Year BPA in Contemporary Dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, and in 2009 he graduated with an Honours Degree and joined Transitions to further his passion.

Throughout his training, Jamie has had the chance to work with choreographers including Douglas Comley, Sean Tuan John, Henri Oguike, Junaid Jemal Sendi and David McKenna. Jamie hopes to expand his knowledge and personal experience as a dance artist through performing and working with versatile choreographers as part of the Transitions experience.


Darja REZNIKOVA
Born in the Ukraine, Darja began her dance training at the age of six. After moving to Germany, she took her passion to the Akademie des Tanzes in Mannheim. At the age of 17, Darja received a scholarship to train at the Academy of Performing Arts in San Diego CA/USA for a year. Back in Germany, Darja extended her training in classical ballet and modern dance at the Aki Kato Tanzforum where she developed as a dance artist, teacher and a choreographer.

Darja came to London in 2006 to study Dance and Theatre Performance, graduating with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Dance and Theatre Performance from Bird College in 2009 where she also choreographed a piece for her graduation show. During this time she had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Katie Morea, Nikki O’Hara (Nikki O’Hara Dance Company) and Anh Ngoc Nguyen (Random Dance). Darja’s promising talent was rewarded and acknowledged when she received one of the two Doreen Bird Dream Awards in 2009 worth £1000.

In the future, Darja would like to work with choreographers Hofesh Shechter, Akram Khan and Deborah Colker. She also hopes to pursue physical theatre, with companies such as Punch Drunk and DV8. Darja is highly interested in film, drama and literature, and is keen to explore the work of Polish theatre director Jerzy Grotowski.


Aaron VICKERS
Aaron started dancing at the age of 18 after taking part in a workshop as part of his A-Level course in Performance Studies. He later joined FuzzyLogic, a company that promotes male dance throughout the UK. Following this, Aaron started teaching and performing before taking part in the 2006 Youth Dance England Festival in Leeds.

During his time at Laban, Aaron has been involved in various collaborative projects. In 2008, he worked closely with Dr Valerie Preston-Dunlop and Ali Jones as a member of the first cast to reconstruct Rudolf Laban’s Green Clowns. In his third year at Laban, Aaron worked with Kerry Nicholls on a dance piece that went on to tour London, culminating in a showcase performance of work by Random Dance.

As well as working with Transitions, Aaron has set up his own all-male dance company with a fellow Laban graduate. The company, eccentric mOtion dance theatre, is in the process of creating its first works, including work by international choreographers.

Aaron is looking forward to touring with a company to gain further experience in performing, teaching and creating work, with a view to developing his own unique way of moving and ultimately create work of his own.


Lyle WHEELER
Born in Bedford, Lyle has been dancing since the age of four. His early training includes ballet, tap and modern dance, and he later joined the local Bedfordshire Youth Dance Company. During this time, he performed in various dance platforms and taught dance to a boys' company alongside choreographer Lisa Spackman. Lyle came to Laban in 2005 and completed his BA in Dance Theatre in 2008. At Laban, Lyle had the opportunity to work closely with Rosemary Butcher.

Lyle joined Transitions to further his ambition to lead a stimulating dance career and to fuel his questioning of dance as an art form. As well as dancing, Lyle enjoys Parkour, the French art of free-running.


Tegen WHYTE
Tegen started her dance training at the Capitol School of Dance in Cornwall at the age of four. In 2004, Tegen began her 2-year NVQ in Classical Dance at the Arts Educational School in Hertfordshire. She then moved on to London Contemporary Dance School to graduate in 2009 with First Class Honours.

Tegen has recently performed in Supercade choreographed by Lorena Randi (July 2009), Merce Cunningham’s Fielding Sixes and Siobhan Davies’ White Man Sleeps (May 2009) at The Robin Howard Theatre, The Place, and various other theatres in London and Italy. Tegen hopes to pursue a career as a contemporary dance performer, working primarily in the UK.




Management
David Waring, Artistic Director
David Waring graduated from Laban in 1987. He has performed, choreographed and taught, both in the UK and internationally, with a many groups and artists, including Ricochet Dance Company, Walker Dance, Adventures in Motion Pictures, Motionhouse, The Featherstonehaughs and his group 'fishpool' (co-directed with Gaynor Coward). From 2000-2002 David was a participant and assistant director at PAL (Performing Arts Lab). Recent performance work has been with Kate Brown, Athina Vahla (at the London Science Museum) and his own solo 'hustler' at the 'Capital Nights' festival in Liverpool. Continuing the 'hustler' series, he is currently promoting 'hustler #2' (with Melodie Gonzales and 21 other couples, performed in an urban environment) and is developing 'hustler #1'. David is studying as a practitioner in Zero Balancing and also choreographed for the launch of the new Fiat 500 in 2008.

Lisa Scott, Administrative Manager
Lisa studied for a BA Hons degree in Dance with Education at Roehampton Institute in London. On completion of her degree, Lisa travelled extensively in Asia, Central and South America, and lived in Australia before returning to the UK to take up a position at East London Dance (eventually developing and managing their programme of activity aimed at engaging young people). After just over 2 years in this role, in November 2006, Lisa took the post of Administrative Manager for Transitions Dance Company.

Caroline Schreiber, Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator
Originally from Belgium, Caroline came to the UK to pursue a career in the Arts industry. After gaining a BA honours in Human Geography from Queen Mary University, Caroline moved on to King’s College to complete a Masters degree in Cultural and Creative Industries with Honours. After working mainly in the arts charitable sector, Caroline joined the Laban Communications team as Marketing Assistant whilst studying part-time for her CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing. She was appointed to the role of Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator in June 2009.
